CMA Subaru of Winchester, along with CMA Hyundai and CMA Honda, has donated 300 bicycles to the Toys for Tots campaign, ensuring a joyful holiday season for many children. This generous contribution will help families in need across the Shenandoah Valley, with the bicycles set to be delivered in time for Christmas.
Mandy Housley, the general manager of CMA Subaru, expressed her excitement about the donation, describing it as “the most joyful thing to do.” She highlighted the emotional impact of knowing that children would wake up on Christmas morning to find bicycles under their trees. Last week, a shipment of bikes was collected from CMA Subaru and transported to a distribution center in Front Royal.
Significant Contributions Over Five Years
The three dealerships have been actively involved in the Toys for Tots initiative for the past five years, consistently donating hundreds of bikes each holiday season. This year, they raised over $10,000 through contributions from vendor partners, customers, and various organizations to fund the purchase of the bicycles.
Erin Henry, the coordinator for Toys for Tots’ Shenandoah Valley campaign, acknowledged the critical role that CMA plays in their operations. “If it weren’t for CMA, we would not be able to give out near the amount of bikes,” she stated. According to Henry, the dealerships’ donations represent the majority of the bicycles distributed by the organization each year. “The most we get outside of CMA is maybe 30 or 40 bikes; other than that, it’s toys. So yeah, this is a big deal,” she added.
With the support of CMA and other community partners, Henry estimates that Toys for Tots will serve “well over 4,000 kids” in regions including Frederick County, Warren County, Shenandoah County, Clarke County, and Page County this holiday season.
A Community Effort
Housley emphasized the rewarding experience of seeing her team come together to contribute to the campaign. “That’s the most rewarding thing,” she noted, “is seeing how, not only do we know that this is going to make the little kids happy, but it makes all of us happy as well.” The sense of community and partnership is vital for the success of such initiatives, and Housley is proud to be part of something larger that brings joy to children in their area.
The collaboration between CMA and Toys for Tots exemplifies how local businesses can make a significant difference in their communities, especially during the holiday season. As the bicycles are prepared for distribution, the smiles on the faces of the children receiving them will undoubtedly reflect the spirit of giving that defines this time of year.
