The Boulder Opera Company has embarked on an exciting new season, showcasing a diverse range of performances that aim to engage audiences of all ages. Founded in 2012, this nonprofit organization has dedicated over a decade to making opera more accessible and enjoyable for the community.
Celebrating the Art of Opera
This season, Boulder Opera invites local residents to experience a captivating journey through themes of passion, comedy, and timeless music. The season kicked off with the popular “Opera in the Park” event at the Boulder Bandshell, where attendees enjoyed highlights from some of opera’s most beloved works. In November, families gathered to witness the charm and humor of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, which provided a delightful experience for patrons. Looking ahead, the company will present Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier in April, a poignant exploration of love, time, and transformation.
Boulder Opera’s commitment extends beyond the stage. The company has significantly impacted its community by offering free concerts, particularly benefiting underserved Latino and Hispanic populations. Additionally, thousands of students from Title I schools have been introduced to the world of opera through engaging educational programs. These initiatives foster a love for the art form, ensuring that opera continues to thrive for future generations.
Supporting Local Talent and Community Engagement
As a nonprofit organization, Boulder Opera Company relies heavily on community support to sustain its operations and fund local artists. The organization aims to raise $12,000 in unrestricted funds this year to enhance artist pay, expand bilingual programming, and improve community access leading into the 2026 season.
Their message emphasizes that even small contributions can make a significant impact. By supporting the Boulder Opera Company, patrons play a crucial role in ensuring that this vibrant cultural institution remains accessible to all.
