Beatrice “Bea” Deal Crist, a cherished figure in Greeneville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on October 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Surrounded by her loved ones, Bea was known for her unwavering kindness, compassion, and the warm spirit that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Born on September 15, 1934, in Alderson, Bea was the daughter of Henry and Evelyn Deal. From a young age, she displayed a strong work ethic and determination that defined her throughout her life. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from West Virginia Tech in 1977, she took pride not only in her own educational achievements but also in inspiring her children to pursue higher education.
Bea married Charles Thomas Crist, creating a home filled with laughter and love until his tragic death in the military in 1963. Their household became known for its generosity, where friends, family, and neighbors were always welcomed. Bea’s selflessness was evident as she often lent a hand or comforted those in need, embodying the spirit of community and kindness.

Bea’s infectious sense of humor and radiant smile were hallmarks of her character. She faced life’s challenges with a grace and optimism that uplifted those around her. Loved ones fondly remember her ability to make the best of any situation, illustrating her resilient spirit.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Crist; her son, Charles “Tom” Thomas Crist Jr.; her parents, Henry and Evelyn Deal; her sister, Betty Sullivan; her son-in-law, Phillip Keeney; and several brothers-in-law and a nephew. Bea is survived by her devoted daughter, Anita Crist Keeney; her sisters, Barbara Deal Miller and Bernice Deal Brackens; grandchildren Eric Keeney, Samantha Keeney, Erin Rice, and Randall Crist; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Final Farewell
Services for Bea will be held at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home in Greeneville. Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, followed by the funeral service on Sunday, October 26, at 1 p.m.. She will be laid to rest at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens in Greeneville.
