Barbara T. Caffrey, a beloved member of the Phoenixville community, passed away on August 8, 2025, at the age of 89. She died peacefully at her daughter’s residence, leaving behind a legacy of love and family. Barbara was the widow of the late Eugene L. Caffrey.
Born in Phoenixville, Barbara was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Sr. and Florence M. (Hitman) Taggart. She had deep ties to her community, being an active member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Spring City. Her early education began at St. Ann’s in Phoenixville, and she graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1953.
Family and Community Legacy
Barbara is survived by her sons, Lawrence E. Caffrey, married to Katie, and Michael T. Caffrey, married to Terry. Her daughters include Lisa A. Fresch, wife of Mark, and Barbara A. Caffrey, wife of Denise. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Liam Caffrey, Amelia Fresch, and Silas Fresch, as well as her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Shelby Pearl. Barbara also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her dearly.
A Memorial Mass will take place on August 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, located at 3640 Schuylkill Rd., Spring City, PA 19475. Following the service, interment will be private.
