Army & Air Force Exchange Service Launches Month-Long Tribute to Veterans

Army & Air Force Exchange Service

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is set to honor active-duty military members, retirees, and Veterans with exclusive giveaways throughout November, marking the inaugural “Salute to Service” month. This initiative aims to recognize the contributions of military personnel beyond just Veterans Day, reflecting a commitment to celebrating their service all month long.

Tom Shull, Director and CEO of AAFES and an Army Veteran, emphasized the importance of honoring those who serve. “One day is not enough to honor those who raise their right hands and take the oath to protect and defend our great Nation,” he stated. Shull’s advocacy for Veterans underscores the Exchange’s mission to support military communities.

In-store giveaways will occur on several key dates throughout November. On November 1 and November 29, collectible penny POGs featuring service-specific artwork will be available. These POGs, which have a military tradition dating back nearly 25 years, were originally created to support troops deployed to Southwest Asia in the early 2000s.

Veterans Day, celebrated on November 11, will feature a limited-edition collectible challenge coin. This coin, a tradition at the Exchange since 2020, displays an eagle on one side and the emblems of all six military branches on the reverse.

On November 15, Veterans can obtain “Vet for Life” decals that allow them to showcase their commitment to the nation on various personal items, including vehicles and water bottles. Additionally, a “Vet for Life” patch will be available on November 22, further reinforcing military unity and morale.

“Heroes are always welcome at their PX and BX,” Shull added. The Exchange is dedicated to providing a space where all who have served are recognized as Veterans for Life.

These exclusive giveaways are available in-store only for active-duty service members, retirees, and service-connected disabled Veterans who have in-store shopping benefits. Due to limited quantities, interested shoppers are encouraged to visit their local PX or BX for more details or check the Exchange’s website at ShopMyExchange.com/SaluteToService.

Since its establishment in 1895, AAFES has played a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for Soldiers, Airmen, Guardians, and their families by offering valued goods and services at exclusive military pricing. Notably, AAFES ranks as the 51st-largest retailer in the United States, with 100% of its earnings supporting military communities. Over the past decade, the Exchange has contributed approximately $15 billion to military quality-of-life programs.

AAFES also serves as a 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, engaging in events and activities that honor the service and sacrifice of Vietnam Veterans and their families.
