John Goodman, known for his role in the television series “The Conners,” has successfully maintained a weight loss of 200 pounds over nearly two decades. Despite a hip injury sustained in the U.K. earlier this year, the 73-year-old actor appeared slim and fit while promoting his role in the new “Smurfs” movie on July 13. Goodman’s journey toward a healthier lifestyle has been marked by significant challenges and triumphs, which he has openly discussed.
In the early 2000s, Goodman began making lifestyle changes, one of the most impactful being his decision to stop drinking alcohol. He reflected on this pivotal moment during a 2012 interview, stating, “It was getting to be too much. It was 30 years of a disease that was taking its toll on everyone around me.” His commitment to sobriety has been a cornerstone of his health journey, allowing him to focus on his physical well-being.

Alongside regular workouts, Goodman eliminated sugar from his diet and aimed for an impressive 10,000 to 12,000 steps each day. His diet emphasized fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and olive oil, which significantly contributed to his overall health.
