Community Mourns the Loss of Caring CNA Joann L. Kane

Joann L. Kane, a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant, passed away on October 5, 2025, at the age of 50. She died at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township. A beloved figure in her community, Kane was known for her compassion and unwavering commitment to caring for others, especially her family and those she served in her professional life.

Remembering a Life Filled with Love and Dedication

Born in Pittston, Joann was the daughter of the late Robert and Shirley Karosick Kane. She embodied a nurturing spirit, which she demonstrated as a CNA, where her passion for caring for others was evident. Joann was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pittston, reflecting her commitment to her faith and community.

Her pride and joy were her three daughters: Ashley Warrick, Kyley Warrick, and Kailey Warrick. Known for her fierce protectiveness, Joann’s love for her children was akin to that of a protective mother bear. This intense devotion extended to her grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness. Joann delighted in spoiling them and creating lasting memories.

Joann’s zest for life was palpable. She found joy in every moment, whether it was enjoying the outdoors on mountain hikes or listening to early 2000s alternative rock music blaring from her car radio. Her love for nature was evident in her appreciation for the feel of sunshine and the fresh, woodsy scent of the forest. Friends and family will remember her warm hugs and invigorating presence, which made everyone feel safe and cherished.

A Legacy of Strength and Compassion

Beyond her familial roles, Joann excelled at helping others through life’s challenges. She supported those around her with kindness and unwavering strength, leaving a significant impact on many. Her ability to forge connections and offer support will be fondly remembered.

Joann is survived by her fiancé, Brian Amos, of Edwardsville, along with her daughters and her grandchildren: Quentin, Elliot, Meadow, Neva, and Silas. She also leaves behind two brothers. A celebration of her life is planned for the spring, where those who knew and loved her will gather to honor her memory.

The arrangements for her funeral have been entrusted to the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Joann L. Kane’s legacy as a loving mother, grandmother, and compassionate caregiver will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
