Brattleboro’s Marigold Hosts Monthly Music Showcase with Local Talent

BRATTLEBORO — In a vibrant celebration of local music, Peter Siegel, a founding member of The Gaslight Tinkers, is set to host a monthly showcase featuring prominent local songwriters. The event, held on the first Sunday of every month at the newly opened Marigold in Brattleboro, will spotlight Elijah Berlow and The Early Risers on July 6.

This initiative aims to provide a platform for seasoned and touring acts to connect with the community, fostering a thriving local music scene. The Marigold, a recent addition to Brattleboro’s cultural landscape, is quickly becoming a hub for artistic expression and community gatherings.

Spotlight on Local Talent

Elijah Berlow, known for his soulful lyrics and engaging performances, will be one of the featured acts. His music, often described as a blend of folk and blues, resonates with audiences seeking authenticity and emotional depth. Joining him are The Early Risers, a band that has gained a following for their harmonious melodies and storytelling prowess.

Peter Siegel, who has been instrumental in promoting local music, expressed his enthusiasm for the event. “It’s about creating a space where artists can share their work and audiences can discover new favorites,” he said. “Brattleboro has a rich musical heritage, and this is a way to keep that tradition alive.”

The Venue: Marigold

The Marigold, which opened its doors earlier this year, has quickly established itself as a cornerstone for cultural events in Brattleboro. With its intimate setting and excellent acoustics, it offers an ideal environment for live performances. The venue’s commitment to showcasing local talent aligns with the community’s desire for a vibrant cultural scene.

According to venue manager, Sarah Thompson, “We wanted to create a space where local artists could thrive and where the community feels welcome. Hosting events like these helps us achieve that goal.”

Historical Context and Community Impact

Brattleboro has long been a nurturing ground for musicians and artists. The town’s history is rich with stories of local bands gaining regional and even national recognition. Events like the monthly showcase at Marigold play a crucial role in continuing this legacy.

Music historian and local resident, John Carter, noted, “Brattleboro has always been a place where music is not just entertainment but a part of the community fabric. These showcases are vital in keeping that spirit alive.”

Looking Ahead

The monthly showcases at Marigold are expected to draw larger crowds as word spreads about the quality of performances and the welcoming atmosphere. This initiative not only supports local artists but also contributes to the town’s economy by attracting visitors and encouraging local spending.

As the event gains momentum, Siegel and his team are considering expanding the lineup to include a wider variety of genres and artists, further enriching Brattleboro’s cultural offerings.

For now, music lovers can look forward to the upcoming performance by Elijah Berlow and The Early Risers, promising an evening of captivating music and community connection at the heart of Brattleboro.
