Urgent Update: Multiple Arrests in Great Bend Over Weekend

URGENT UPDATE: Over the weekend, Great Bend witnessed a series of incidents leading to multiple arrests and police responses, sparking community concern. Authorities confirm that between August 1-3, 2025, emergency services were actively engaged in various incidents, including arrests for domestic violence and drug-related offenses.

At 10:06 a.m. on Friday, Great Bend Fire/EMS responded to an unauthorized burn in the 900 block of Jefferson St.. The situation escalated further with a false alarm reported on Sunday. Emergency Medical Services logged a total of 10 calls over the weekend, indicating a busy period for local responders.

On Friday, at 1:35 a.m., police were dispatched to 1205 Roxanne Dr. where they arrested Lauren Vancura for domestic battery and criminal damage to property. This incident adds to the growing concern over domestic violence in the area.

Later that day, at 6:31 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unknown male armed with a knife near 3rd and Hubbard St.. The individual fled the scene before police arrived, highlighting ongoing safety challenges in the community.

Saturday morning saw a shoplifting incident reported at Walmart, further straining local law enforcement resources. A domestic incident at 6036 Rosewood Dr. on Sunday at 2:31 p.m. resulted in the arrest of Jessica Rodriguez for criminal threat and domestic violence battery. Rodriguez was later released after posting bond.

At 3:56 p.m. on Sunday, police located Blaine Reeder in the 2800 block of 24th St.. Although he was initially suspected of driving a stolen vehicle, it turned out the vehicle was not reported stolen. Reeder was arrested due to an outstanding municipal warrant and released after posting bond.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reported a non-injury accident at 5:24 p.m. on Friday at SE 100 Ave. and SE 30 Road, Ellinwood. A chase involving BCSO was also reported late Friday evening at 9:54 p.m., indicating a continued need for vigilance in the area.

Throughout the weekend, multiple individuals were booked into the Barton County Jail for various offenses. Notable arrests include:

  • Daisy Cordova for aggravated robbery and burglary, with a bond set at $100,000.
  • Cristian Rivera, charged with felony flee and elude, along with several traffic violations.
  • Jessica L. Rodriguez for domestic battery, again emphasizing the pressing issue of domestic violence in Great Bend.

As of now, community members are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Police continue to address safety concerns, making it clear that they will not tolerate violence or criminal behavior.

This situation remains fluid, and updates are expected as authorities continue their investigations. Residents are encouraged to follow local news for the latest developments and to remain aware of their surroundings.
