MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick) Remembered for Her Kind Spirit

MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick) passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was the last surviving sibling of the Hudanick family from Watkins Street in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania. Known for her infectious smile and warm personality, MaryEllen touched the lives of many during her 86 years.

Born in March 1939, MaryEllen graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1957. She began her early career at JS Raub, but her life took a significant turn when she met her husband, George Junie Audi, shortly after his discharge from the Navy following the Korean War. The couple married and welcomed three children: Pamela Dommes, George Audi, and Tammy Audi.

Building a Life of Love and Community

MaryEllen and George started their family life in Kingston before moving to Jay Street in Swoyersville, where they built lasting memories with neighbors and friends over the span of nearly 50 years. As a dedicated mother, MaryEllen took pride in raising her children and created a warm, inviting home. She enjoyed cooking and baking, transforming her living space with fresh paint, new rugs, and furniture, all to ensure her home was cozy for family gatherings.

Throughout her life, MaryEllen worked diligently to support her family, often taking on extra responsibilities. She also found joy in her work as a cleaner, taking great pride in making homes shine and always reminding guests to take off their shoes upon entering her own home.

MaryEllen cherished spending time with her sisters, often playing bingo and poker during family gatherings. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, including her visits to the casino, where she could often be found enjoying a hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts while playing the slot machines.

A Life of Faith and Care

Faith played a significant role in MaryEllen’s life. She held her church, her Lord, and her Bible dear to her heart. Family and friends take comfort in knowing she has found peace. MaryEllen is survived by five grandchildren: Gabriella Audi, Dylan Audi, Jake Miscavage, Maximillian Dommes, and Nick Miscavage.

After the passing of her husband of 52 years, MaryEllen spent time at home before moving to Serenity Care in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, where she spread her warmth and positivity among residents and staff. Most recently, she resided at 3rd Avenue Health and Rehab in Kingston, where her kind spirit was admired by all.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no interment or funeral services. Those wishing to honor her memory may consider donating to Candys Place in Forty Fort, a free wellness center that supports cancer patients and their caregivers. This organization held special significance for MaryEllen, particularly following the loss of her beloved daughter, Pam, to cancer last year.

Arrangements were handled by Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 59 Parrish Street in Wilkes-Barre. MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick) will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her.
