Next year’s schemes for local and regional councils have been announced today, which the Government has said will improve the standard of living of residents, and which will be introduced next year.
The global funds allocated for next year’s schemes for local and regional councils are more than €5 million.
Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government and Communities Silvio Parnis, explained that the main aim of these schemes is to create more inclusion and innovation.
There are schemes aimed directly at increasing inclusiveness, and others aimed at increasing accessibility and mobility so as to ensure that the public structures in our localities are accessible to everyone, he said.
He added that, there are also schemes that will continue to strengthen our communities and are in favour of the environment, waste reduction and animal welfare, as well as others that will increase the use of technology in our localities.
Parliamentary Secretary Parnis concluded by saying that the main purpose of the local government is to serve the residents, “and this is why our commitment should be to ensure that they are given a service of excellence.”
