POSEN — Grant Fountain ran for 261 yards and four touchdowns as Cedarville downed Posen 46-26 in an 8-Man Division 8 pre-regional football game Friday night.
Posen had the early lead, but Cedarville scored on its first three drives to regain control. Trey Paquin threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Bohn with 7:26 left in the first half, which gave the Trojans a 16-14 lead, one they would not relinquish.
Fountain also had two touchdown runs in the first half, and Cedarville led 24-14 at intermission. Josh Newell had a 5 run TD run for Cedarville in the third quarter, and Fountain added TD runs of 6 and 60 yards in the fourth quarter.
“I thought our kids played hard on a cold night,” Cedarville coach Scott Barr said. “Posen was a tough opponent. It was a good start to the playoffs and we were happy to get out of there with the win.”
The Trojans ran for 365 yards overall, led by Fountain’s 261 on 25 carries. Newell gained 55 yards on 14 carries.
Paquin was 7-of-12 passing for 134 yards, and Bohn led the receivers with three catches for 94 yards.
Cedarville ended Posen’s season for a second straight year. Tyler Hincka and Chase Dubie scored two touchdowns each for the Vikings, who finish 6-4.
Michael Fairchild and Fountain made 14 tackles apiece for the Trojans. Fairchild also had two quarterback sacks, while Fountain added an interception. Jarrett St. Onge made eight tackles, while Trevor Norris had six tackles and one sack.
Cedarville (6-4) advances to play at Hillman (9-1) in a regional championship game at 7 this upcoming Friday night.
