ABERDEEN, S.D. — A 39-year-old northeast South Dakota man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for felony child abuse and neglect of a 3-year-old.
Jeremiah Lynn Renville Jr, of Eden, a small town just across the North Dakota border on the edge of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate of the Lake Traverse Reservation, is accused of causing serious bodily harm to the young child in February of 2018, according to the U.S. district court in Aberdeen.
He will surrender to the U.S. Marshal’s Service in December to begin serving his term. He was sentenced last week in federal court in Aberdeen by U:.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann. He will also be on supervised probation for three years after his release from prison.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the tribe’s law enforcement agency.
