Australia

As Miss Universe Australia, Priya Serrao is no stranger to wearing a tiara.

But the beauty queen would always choose an understated style over an over-the-top crown.

Serrao made her first visit to Perth yesterday to drop into Kailis’ new Raine Square store, where she tried on the Verity Diadem tiara.

The 27-year-old told Confidential she liked the “minimalist, elegant” feel of the brand.

“I love what they stand for,” she said.

“They talk about elegance and strength, so it’s not just about looks. Those values they attach to their brand go deeper, and I really like that.”

While in town, Serrao has been playing tourist with the WA Miss Universe Australia finalists as her guides.

“I have been down at Cottesloe beach with some of the girls,” she said.

“I am catching up with them for dinner, too. I am really close to them, so it’s good to see them all.”

While there is still no date or location for the pageant’s international final, Serrao has been keeping herself busy with her role at home in Melbourne.

The Indian-Australian bombshell said it took her some time to believe the crown really was hers.

“For maybe even a month after, I was still overwhelmed,” Serrao said.

“It’s a pretty big thing to believe. Now I am a few months in, I have settled into it and realised I can shape the role around what I am interested in.

“I can talk about the things that matter the most to me, like inclusivity.”
