Kochi: ESAF Small Finance Bank (ESAF) has hosted the Asia Pacific chapter meet of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), held at Hotel Grant Hyatt, Bolgatty.
Almost 24 delegates from across the Asia Pacific Region participated in the summit held from Wednesday to Friday. The meeting also witnessed the enrolment of two new members from the APAC region to GABV – NMB Bank Nepal and Daichi, Japan.

The GABV is a network of sustainable banks including credit unions, community banks and microfinance banks around the world, who work towards the goal of touching one billion lives by 2020 through sustainable banking. Speaking on the occasion K Paul Thomas, MD and CEO, ESAF, said, “As a social bank that aims to deliver joyful experiences to the customer, we are committed to give them more than they expect. Through this initiative, we believe that we are helping them to become more productive and sustainable and we are trying to innovate value based business models that would pro-actively use finance for the larger good of the society.”
Delegates also visited the micro-banking women’s groups of ESAF at Njarakkal to learn more about the joint liability group lending practice followed by ESAF.
So far, ESAF has brought approximately over 30 lakh women into the financial inclusion space across 15 states in India.
