‘Chicago Fire’ TV show films in Schaumburg

Chicago News

The more urban look taking shape throughout the former Motorola Solutions campus in Schaumburg allowed the site to serve Thursday as a filming location for the NBC television series “Chicago Fire.”

Scenes were shot Thursday morning at the Zurich North America headquarters at the northwest corner of Meacham Road and the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway.

Daniele Bernstein, co-producer of the three intertwined series “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med,” said the location was chosen to represent a university after classes were back in session. The Zurich building looks like a modern research facility and had the scope that was wanted, she said.

“Chicago Fire” is filmed entirely in the Chicago area, Bernstein said.

The footage filmed Thursday will be broadcast on Wednesday, Oct. 16, as the fourth episode of the eighth season of “Chicago Fire,” and the first part of a three-part crossover among the shows that evening.

Public access to the set, which featured Chicago fire and police vehicles, was blocked by real Schaumburg police.
